Bennett Halverson
Name: Bennett Halverson
Designation: Was Rossum
Position: Programmer
Age & Birthday: 29, April 26, 1986
Gender: Female
Likes:
- Topher. She thinks he's nicely shaped. And seems to be the only one who ever knows what she is talking about.
- Predictable people. Most people are predictable to her. So most people.
- Math. It's predictable.
- Reading. Books are nicer than the internet to her. They smell old.
- Brain synapses and the relationships between them.
Dislikes
- Caroline. She left her behind to just die.
- Rossum Corporation. They used her. Just like Caroline.
- Meat. It's barbaric to her.
Strengths:
- She's always been smart. Always. she finished college in two years, at the age of 18. And then... Caroline. When she left her there, Rossum decided then to use her. They were the first to call her 'special.' Special was nice. Until he made her feel more than special.
- People are predictable. For her it makes them weak, ergo it makes them easy to manipulate.
- She's incredibly brave and sticks to her convictions, despite any opposition she may run into.
Weaknesses:
- Her intelligence tends to alienate her in the same way her bluntness does.
- Her physical weaknesses are obvious. She is incredibly skinny and isn't very strong. She's useless in any hand to hand combat.
- Topher. She sees everything in rose-colored glasses where he is concerned.
Fears:
- Being a doll.
- Losing him.
History:
Bennett Halverson was born to Anna and Ben Halverson, both geniuses in their own right. Anna worked for a company trying to clone human fetuses and Ben was a brain surgeon. They both loved their daughter, but had little time for her. And as such, leaving her alone at home for extended periods of time, as they thought nannies were unnecessary. Her poor social skills could almost be completely blamed on this poor parenting. However, she was always excelling in school, passing through first, second, and third grade in one regular school year. She was home-schooled so again, she was very alienated.
When she was offered a position at Rossum's campus in Tucson, she jumped at the chance. Finally, the chance to interact with people and also advance her education with the backing of one of the biggest companies in the world. However, people weren't exactly the way she expected. Most weren't nice to her, and didn't appreciate her genius, treating her like a freak. So when Caroline appeared out of the blue, and actually seemed to like her, she latched onto that friendship. She went so far as to let Caroline manipulate her into helping her bring down Rossum. When Caroline left her behind, trying to keep Bennet from getting blamed, something in Bennet broke. She couldn't handle it and her brain adjusted by remembering it differently, with Caroline leaving her for dead. This fueled her for most of her life. Her extreme hate for Caroline changed her in so many ways, she was barely recognizable as the girl before Caroline.
Just as she was happy being used by Caroline, she was just as happy being used by Rossum for several years, until she met him. Topher changed everything for her. He made her feel wonderful. He made her want to be her old self. That was before Rossum shot her in the head through Whiskey. They all thought she was dead. She probably was. However, Rossum couldn't let their investment go to waste, especially when she was one of their brightest. They rebuilt her. Replacing her arm with a super realistic prosthetic and putting her head back together. Luckly, they had a backup of her, and they downloaded her with it.
They kept her in stasis, until the upper floors of the LA Rossum office were bombed by the wiped Boyd. Those that didn't die, fled. And against all odds, not only did she live through the bombing, she also finally awoke from the stasis. However, it was five years later. She had to piece together her life where her imprint left off through paperwork. So, unfortunately, she doesn't remember the happiest moment of her life. Her kiss with Topher. Nonetheless, she remembers him, and the warmness he makes her feel. She's driven by that, trying to get back to that.
Personality:
Bennett's personality can be characterized into two categories, pre-Caroline and post-Caroline. Before Caroline, Bennet was mousy, quiet, unassuming. She was socially awkward and seemed to lack the skills to communicate in everyday situations. She even had trouble picking up on things like jokes and slang completely escaped her. She was, however, kind and generous, despite her bluntness. At this point, she could be characterized as easily manipulated and weak, although she was 'off-the-chart smart'.
Post- Caroline, is a completely different monster. No longer was she shy and easily manipulated. She became the manipulator. Her social skills improved, even using sarcasm often herself, but she still has a tendency to speak in overly technical terms. She is not nearly as kind-hearted as she once was. Now, she has her own dark side, reserved specifically for Caroline and Rossum. But they is a ray of hope in her, as she holds all of her kindness for Topher. He makes her smile more than anything else. She seems like her old self when she is around him.

She brushed off his question, feeling a bit like it would've ruin the moment to admit she had just been in the ocean with Sawyer. She decided it would be better to cut around the question. She shrugged, and casually said, "No one important." She smiled at him and nervously laughed. She wasn't lying. But she wasn't being completely truthful.
She noticed that it was about to rain as well, but she didn't mind nearly as much as he did. She rather enjoyed the rain and the chaos it brought with it. She slipped her hand back into his. With the absence of the rough sand on it, her could probably feel her silky smooth skin.
She smiled gently at him, as she continued through the forest, biting her lower lip. She felt so light as she walked next to him. She was giddy and happy. She never wanted him to let go of her hand. It felt too right.
